The Chateau des Monthairons is near the heroic town of Verdun, famous throughout the world as the site of one of the most eventful pages in the history of France, and also a delightful place in which to enjoy a stroll on the banks of the River Meuse.

Further north are numerous historic sites worth a visit, such as the citadel in Montmédy or the village of Stenay, home to the European Beer Museum.
